Managers Training

There are multiple Managers Trainings available: 

Managers Training - Essential Skills Workshop

Essential skills training for managers that focuses on developing an understanding of the effects of low-literacy on employee success and how Skills for Success are used in the workplace.

 

During the training, you learn to identify what Skills for Success are used within your workplace, within your own position as a Manager or Supervisor and by your employees. After, you can work with the workshop trainers to explore your understanding of the skills, what skills are most important for your workplace and training that could better support your employees.

 

Community Leadership Workshop - For Program Managers
This workshop is run in partnership with the Coady International Institute, St. Francis Xavier University. It is a community leadership workshop for program managers that is co-developed, co-designed and tailored to the needs and interest of the group by partnering with Band Administration and other Management.


Participants engage in storytelling, relational accountability, and the importance of approaching the community and their work from an abundance lens. We also help managers identify their personal and team assets. Also covered is the importance of self-care while leading, understanding power, team building and creating action plans that the managers will use with their teams.


Cultural Exchange Workshop
This is a cultural awareness and literacy exchange workshop that is developed and run by the Indigenous community for Indigenous and non-Indigenous employers and/or employees. The workshop focuses on storytelling, literacy, language, culture and traditions of the community and how they impact success and experiences in the workplace.

  • There is a fee for this training. 

  • Sessions are offered online, access to a computer and internet is required.

How to Access:

These programs are offered by the Further Education Society of Alberta (FESA) and the Coady Institute.  

In-person or online customized group trainings are available. Cost is dependent number of participants and travel costs. For more information please contact FESA at info@furthered.ca

Workshop Objectives:

  • Reflect upon lived experiences and identify existing strengths and gifts.

  • Explore and share stories and experiences to help recognize personal leadership values, skills, and capacities.

  • Develop an understanding of opportunities and practical strategies for overcoming challenges. Build self-esteem.

  • Develop a vision and a leadership approach that supports innovation and social change.

  • Create an action plan to build on participants’ strengths and capacities as leaders now and in the future.
